Hamburger Helper?!

The world outside is packaged meals is just endless.  Imagine...a processed food delight - Hamburger Helper - being replicated (clearly minus cheese and the insane amount of sodium) minus any kind of helping-shelf-life preservative!  And it was easy.

First meal to incorporate substance and meat back into J's diet and great as leftovers.  Might make this in a bigger batch next time.

Ingredients
Pasta: I used Fusili

1 package of ground meat (I used pork instead of beef, because I don't eat beef. :) )
1/2 of a BIG onion chopped
2 garlic cloves
Some kind of veg.... As mine was a throw together meal, I used on-hand canned mushrooms.  Any frozen veg. would be good and easy!
3 tbsp of Becel Vegan Margarine
3 tbsp of flour
2 cups of rice milk
Salt & Pepper!

While cooking your pasta...
1.  In a large skillet, brown meat with chopped onion and garlic cloves.  Once fully cook, drain meat.  Put it to the side in a bowl.
2.  Add margarine to skillet.  Once melted, whisk in flour to form a paste.  Quickly whisk in milk until no clumps remain.  Cook for 3 - 4 minutes over medium heat, until sauce starts to bubble and thicken.
3.  Add meat and vegetables back into pan.
4.  Stir with cooked pasta!

So I found this recipe on one of my new favorite sites:  http://5dollardinners.com.  This site rocks so much, I'll write another blog about only that. Pin It
