Alas - a stir fry recipe without hoisin, soy sauce, or worchestershire! This recipe does, however, call for a bit of sugar. I did put it in, but only because I felt that it wasn't much for 3 servings. Will find a good substitute - might be good with maple sugar, actually.
Ingredients
Vegetables (whatever you like)
I used: yellow pepper, green onion, spanish onion
Cooked Shrimp
Chow Mein Noodles
1 tsp of minced ginger
2 cloves of garlic, minced
Olive Oil
Sauce:
2 tbsp of garlic flavor red wine vinegar (the recipe I found actually called for regular red wine vinegar, but I used what we had)
2 tbsp of orange juice (I actually used Oasis 100% peach orange juice)
1 tbsp of ketchup
1/3 tsp cornstarch
salt, pepper
How-To
1. Whisk together sauce ingredients and set aside - start boiling your water for your noodles.
2. Heat olive oil in a pan on medium high, cook vegetables.
3. Once veg is cooked, move to outside of pan. Throw in garlic and ginger. Add shrimp, heat through.
4. Meanwhile, throw your chow mein noodles in the boiling water.
5. Pour sauce mixture into pan and let simmer for 2 minutes.
6. Throw drained noodles into pan and mix up.
This was such a fast meal to throw together. We have cooked shrimp (bulk up when it goes on sale) on hand as much as possible for quick-supper nights like Fridays. Fridays are for eating well and eating fast before heading out to our running/walking/social group.
No photo here, but trust that it was good. Simple, simple, simple!
