TRAVELS

Mostly an extension of 'About Me'...the places I have been to are a big part of who I am today and my love for food has really come from my  exposure to so many new things.

Falling in love with galbi and jamchi tapbap (tuna and kimchi fried rice) in South Korea was my first step to opening my eyes beyond our delicious home cooked meals and Italian meals out. From there, I went on to travel new countries and began to discover that my days would be mapped out around meals...how could I get more than 3 meals in a day? What new thing can I try? I just discovered a new "favorite" dish, how do I keep myself from eating the same thing every day?...

My mouth still waters when I remember the fresh eggs from Bantayan Island during my first Christmas in the Philippines, or banana pancakes drizzled with condensed milk and chocolate syrup from Koh San Road, Thailand...pad thai from every rural street corner in Thailand...Minced spicy beef or that amazing grilled fish from the Mekong river in Laos...Absolutely anything noodle-wise wtih fish sauce in both Vietnam and Cambodia...Fried noodles and curries in Bali...Antelope in Cuba...Street-food soups in China or the "real" Chinese food.  And the list goes on.

J and I will forever use what we've learned through our travels in our kitchen. We'll forever plan more trips and bring more types of food into our lives.  My next interests?  Portugal? Eastern Europe? Nepal? Turkey? Morocco?  Jordan?  Guess we'll see!

I've put together a little collection of some of the countries I have visited to date. Choosing two photos to showcase a travel experience is unbelievably difficult - especially when I lived in South Korea for 2 years, visited the Philippines, Thailand and Bali twice and visited so many different places within each country - especially when you have a whole month!

Nothing brings me more excitement than planning a 'next' trip with J, even if it's simply about laying on a beach for a week straight. <3
